What is Project WET?

Project WET is Water Education for K-12 Teachers!   The goal is to facilitate and promote awareness, appreciation, knowledge, and stewardship of water resources through K-12 educator workshops and classroom resources.    Our Mission is to bring WATER EDUCATION to the world!

Our core beliefs are:

  • Water connects us all: Water moves through living and nonliving systems and binds them together in a complex web of life.
  • Water for all water users: Water of sufficient quality and quantity is vital for all water users (energy producers, farmers and ranchers, fish and wildlife, manufacturers, recreationists, rural and urban dwellers).
  • Managing water sustainably: Water resources management is crucial for providing tomorrow €™s children with social and economic stability in a healthy and sustainable environment.
  • Personal responsibility for water resources: Awareness of and respect for water resources can encourage a personal, lifelong commitment of responsibility and positive community participation.

How does Project WET work?

bullet   It is a Program designed for formal and non-formal educators of K-12 students grounded in well-defined beliefs that are reflected in the curriculum and teaching techniques.

bullet   It is a Curriculum of activities developed, field-tested, and reviewed by educators and resource managers working with thousands of students nationwide and correlated to the current    Georgia Performance Standards   and the National Core Standards.

bullet   And it is an Instruction and Delivery Network offering:

Educator Workshops that include training, the Project WET Curriculum and Activity Guide, and additional water education resources for certification to teach students

and Facilitator Workshops that train interested individuals  to hold Educator Workshops providing a link between the Project WET organization and the classroom.

What is Georgia Project WET?
Each state has coordinators that provide local training and administration for the program. In Georgia we provide training for formal and non-formal educators and facilitators through water education workshops, promote water education throughout the state, and provide materials and support to all those who participate.   What's new with Georgia WET?
